Nasum-Mahedi Among the Best T20 Bowlers for Bangladesh
Bangladesh’s two spinners, Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan, have made significant gains in the ICC T20I bowling rankings. Following their recent performances in the Asian Games and against the West Indies, Nasum climbed three places to eighth, while Mahedi Hasan jumped 10 spots to ninth.
Axar Patel, who took two wickets in the first T20I against the West Indies, has also made a significant rise. The Indian all-rounder climbed 16 places to seventh. Above him is Rashid Khan, who has reclaimed the top spot in the T20I bowling rankings.
Rashid displaced Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed from the top position. Abrar’s performances in the Asian Games semifinals and final were not enough to retain his place at the summit, and he has now slipped to second. This is the eighth time in Rashid’s career that he has reached the top of the T20I bowling rankings.
There has also been a major rise in the batting rankings, with India’s Shreyas Iyer making a big move. After smashing an unbeaten 102 off 43 balls in the first match of the T20I series against the West Indies, Iyer climbed 18 places to a career-best seventh position. It was his first century in T20 cricket.
The top two spots remain occupied by two Indian batters. Ishan Kishan, who scored an unbeaten 37, is ranked No. 1, while Abhishek Sharma, who scored 21 off 10 balls, is at No. 2. Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan, England’s Harry Brook and Jos Buttler, and South Africa’s Dewald Brevis occupy positions three to six.
West Indies’ Sherfane Rutherford has also moved up in the batting rankings. After scoring 56 off 34 balls against India, he climbed 10 places to 37th.
In the ODI batting rankings, India’s Shubman Gill has further strengthened his position at the top. His unbeaten 223 in the second ODI against the West Indies increased his lead over Daryl Mitchell to 47 points.
Virat Kohli slipped to third after scoring 29 and a duck in the following matches against the West Indies. Mitchell moved up to second. Meanwhile, Shai Hope climbed two places to sixth after playing a match-winning role with an unbeaten 162 in the final ODI. India’s KL Rahul, whose century came in a losing cause in the same match, jumped seven places to enter the top 10 at No. 10.
There has also been a new entrant in the top 10 of the ODI bowling rankings. West Indies pacer Jayden Seales climbed 12 places to tenth after taking three wickets in the third ODI against India.
