Australia went 1–0 up in the three-match series after defeating Bangladesh by four wickets in the first T20I in Chattogram. Chasing a target of 132, the visitors sealed the win in 18.2 overs.
After being sent in to bat, Bangladesh made a positive start but failed to build a big total. Despite reaching the 50-run mark in just 5.4 overs, regular wickets halted their momentum and put them under pressure. Bangladesh finished the powerplay at 52/2 and were eventually bowled out for 131 in 19 overs.
Among the Australian bowlers, Adam Zampa was the most successful, taking 3 wickets for 18 runs in his four overs. Joel Davies was equally effective, claiming 3 wickets for 17 runs in his three overs. Their disciplined bowling ensured Bangladesh could not post a challenging total.
In reply, Australia also faced early pressure, losing two wickets inside the powerplay and reaching 47/2 in six overs. However, Cooper Connolly turned the match in Australia’s favour with a brisk innings. He smashed 47 off just 27 balls, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 174.07.
Tim David provided stability in the middle overs as Australia built partnerships to stay on track in the chase. Although Bangladesh created some tense moments towards the end, the visitors held their nerve to complete the victory. Australia reached the target in 18.2 overs, finishing on 133/6.
With this win, Australia take a 1–0 lead in the three-match series.
