Bangladesh Slip to 10th in ICC Women’s T20I Rankings, Ireland Move Up
Bangladesh women's cricket team has dropped to 10th place in the latest ICC Women's T20I rankings, following a poor run of form in recent international matches. Ireland have leapfrogged them to 9th place, buoyed by their 3-0 series sweep over Bangladesh last December in Mirpur.
With a rating of 192 points, Bangladesh now sit just ahead of Thailand (11th), Scotland (12th), Papua New Guinea (13th), Zimbabwe (14th), and Netherlands (15th) in the T20I table.
This ranking drop reflects a troubling stretch for Nigar Sultana Joty’s side, who have suffered nine consecutive T20I defeats in 2024. Following the Ireland whitewash, Bangladesh also endured a 3-0 series defeat on their tour of West Indies earlier this year. The team has failed to win any of the 11 T20Is played at home in 2024 against Full Member sides.
The rankings update is based on matches from May 2022 to April 2024, with the most recent results carrying full weight. Bangladesh also lost their final three matches in the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, further affecting their ranking.
Despite their T20I struggles, Bangladesh remain 9th in both ODI and Test rankings. On a positive note, they secured qualification for the 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, to be held in India during September-October, after a strong performance in the qualifiers held in Pakistan.
