Bangladesh once again crumbled under the weight of a batting failure, losing the second match of the series by 57 runs against Pakistan, despite a promising start on Lahore's batting-friendly pitch. With two consecutive defeats, the visitors have now lost the series, but all eyes are now on the third and final match, where Bangladesh will fight to avoid a whitewash.
The hosts secured the series with a game to spare, delivering a dominant performance. The final match will be played this Sunday at the same venue. Eager to bounce back before returning home, Bangladesh is desperate to salvage some pride in the remaining fixture.
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Bangladesh captain Liton Das remained hopeful:
"We still have one more opportunity. At this point, we need to sit down together and discuss how we can come back stronger. It’s all about the right mindset," he said.
Bangladesh’s woes began early in the bowling innings when pacer Shariful Islam was forced to leave the field after just three deliveries due to injury.
"In my opinion, when Shariful got injured, the momentum completely shifted to their side. We already have some limitations in our bowling attack, but still, we managed to make a decent comeback. On this pitch, 200 runs is a chasable target—I’d bat any day chasing that. But as a batting unit, we just couldn’t deliver," Liton added.
Returning to the T20 XI after a long break, Mehidy Hasan Miraz went wicketless, while leg-spinner Rishad Hossain conceded 50 runs for a single wicket. Among the pacers, Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Sakib picked up two wickets each. Pakistan, however, lost three wickets in the final five overs while adding 40 runs.
