Ayush Mahatre to Lead India U-19 on Australia Tour in September
Ayush Mahatre has been named captain of the India Under-19 team for the upcoming tour of Australia in September. The tour will feature three One-Day matches and two four-day games against the Australia U-19 side.
Mahatre recently led India U-19 in England, where the team clinched the ODI series 3-2 and drew the two-match Test series. His leadership during the successful England tour has earned him the captaincy for this important assignment Down Under.
However, wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu, who served as vice-captain during the England series, has been replaced in that role. While he remains in the squad, Bihan Malhotra has been appointed as the new vice-captain for the Australian tour.
India will look to replicate their success from the last series against Australia U-19, held in India during September–October last year, where the home side completed a clean sweep in both the ODIs and four-day matches.
