Bangladesh’s Tanzid Tamim Makes Big Leap in ICC T20I Batting Rankings

Despite a series loss to the UAE, several Bangladesh players have made significant gains in the latest ICC T20I rankings, with opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim making the most notable jump. The ICC published the updated rankings on Wednesday, bringing positive news for the Tigers.

Tanzid, who shone with the bat during the series, climbed 29 spots to enter the top 100, now ranked 98th among T20I batters. After a quiet start in the first match, where he scored only 10 off 9 balls, the left-hander bounced back with a blistering 59 off 33 in the second match — a performance that has now been reflected in the rankings.

Other Notable Gains:

  • Litton Das, the team captain, moved up one place to 49th. He scored 11 and 40 runs in the first two matches of the series.

  • Jaker Ali Anik climbed six spots to reach a career-high 82nd, with 404 rating points, following scores of 13 and 18.

  • Towhid Hridoy, a consistent performer for Bangladesh, gained one position to reach 30th, making him the highest-ranked Bangladeshi batter in T20Is currently.

Bowling Rankings Update:

  • Mustafizur Rahman, who took two wickets in the first match, has moved up one spot to 25th.

  • Tanzim Hasan Sakib, with three wickets across two games, also rose by one position to 40th.

  • Shoriful Islam climbed one place to 76th after picking up two wickets in the second match.

While the series result may have been disappointing, these individual improvements offer encouragement for Bangladesh ahead of future assignments, particularly with the T20 World Cup 2026 on the horizon.
