Pakistan paceman Haris Rauf has had his central contract canceled. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Nakvi announced that the decision to revoke Rauf's contract was a mistake. Nakvi mentioned in a press conference in Lahore that he had received a letter from Rauf.
The Pakistani pacer has managed the entire situation well, according to him. Nakvi added, "There was a misunderstanding here, and a wrong decision was made. His contract has been reinstated. I was concerned about him; he was injured. It was also a matter of concern about who would treat him. We are now looking into his insurance. Because he is one of our star players."
PCB has brought back Rauf's central contract within less than six weeks. Before this, when Pakistan toured Australia, there were some discussions with selectors regarding Rauf. Chief selector Wahab Riaz was somewhat pleased with Rauf at that time because the pacer did not want to play Tests in Australia. Additionally, Rauf expressed that he is not interested in playing red-ball cricket.
Within the first two days of the start of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Rauf was excluded from the central contract. Playing for Lahore Qalandars, he played four matches, then got injured while fielding and was ruled out of the tournament.
Pakistan's next series is against New Zealand, with a five-match T20 series scheduled for April.
