New Zealand batsmen Devon Conway and Finn Allen have opted out of the central contract with New Zealand Cricket. Conway has chosen to sign a non-regular contract to participate in franchise leagues instead of the central contract. On the other hand, Finn Allen has not entered into any contract with the board.
According to the contract, Devon Conway will play in the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, and he will also be part of the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan. Conway will also participate in the tri-nation series in Pakistan involving South Africa and Pakistan.
Regarding his decision about the central contract, Conway said, "First of all, I want to thank New Zealand Cricket for their support. The decision to not be on the central contract is not something to be taken lightly. However, this is the best decision for me and my family."
Conway added, "Playing for the Black Caps is more valuable to me than anything else, and I am very excited about representing the country and winning matches. I am thrilled to be part of the Test squad, which is also part of the ICC Championship, and I am looking forward to the Champions Trophy in Pakistan in February, if given the opportunity."
On the other hand, Finn Allen, who secured a spot in New Zealand's central contract last month, did not accept the board's offer to play in the franchise leagues. Therefore, he will not be regularly seen in the national team.
