Rakeem Cornwall Ends His BPL Campaign After Just 3 Matches
Rakeem Cornwall's journey in the 2025 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has come to an early end due to injury. The West Indian all-rounder will no longer be seen on the field for the Sylhet Strikers in this year’s BPL.
The Sylhet Strikers franchise announced the news through a video on their official Facebook page, confirming that Cornwall would be leaving Bangladesh. The caption on the post read, "Sad news for cricket fans - Rakeem Cornwall is leaving the BPL due to injury." In the video message, Cornwall said, “Goodbye Bangladesh. I will see you again in Sylhet.”
So far in the 2025 BPL, Sylhet Strikers have played 6 matches, winning just two. Cornwall had the chance to feature in 3 of those games, but struggled to make an impact with the bat. In those 3 matches, he managed only 22 runs (18, 0, 4). However, he did manage to take 4 wickets with the ball.
In his first match, Cornwall made 18 runs off 12 balls but was dismissed for a golden duck against Dhaka Capitals. On January 12, he was out for just 4 runs off 5 balls against Khulna Tigers. In the last match in Sylhet, he did not make it into the starting eleven, and the very next day, it was confirmed that Cornwall's BPL campaign had come to an end.
