UAE Clinches Commanding Win Over Oman in Asia Cup

In their Asia Cup match in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) defeated Oman by 42 runs. Powered by Alishan Sharafu’s dazzling half-century and Mohammad Wasim’s fighting innings, UAE posted a total of 172 runs. Later, Junaid Siddique’s brilliant bowling bundled Oman out for 130.

On a slow-paced pitch, Alishan Sharafu took responsibility for building the innings. Aggressive in the powerplay, he hit six fours off just 12 balls. His standout shot came against leg-spinner Samay Srivastava—a perfectly executed inside-out drive over cover for a six. On the other end, Wasim played a gritty innings of 69 runs. Despite struggling at times to find rhythm, he used his experience to tackle the bowlers’ new spells. With this innings, Wasim reached 3,000 T20 runs, joining an elite list that includes Mohammad Rizwan, Virat Kohli, and Babar Azam.

In the middle overs, Harshit Kaushik and Mohammad Zohaib added 40 runs off 21 balls, helping UAE reach a total of 172.

Chasing the target, Oman started aggressively but soon faltered after Jatinder Singh’s dismissal. Having scored 20 off 10 balls, his wicket triggered a collapse. Oman lost three wickets for just 14 runs at one stage, and their score slipped from 32/4 to 50/5.

Despite their efforts at the end, no one could revive the innings. UAE bowler Junaid Siddique was the star with the ball, taking four wickets for 23 runs. His devastating spell ensured Oman was bowled out for 130 well before completing the 20 overs.
