Warner's Return Question Addressed by his Wife: "Not Happening"
David Warner’s wife, Candice, has commented on the possibility of Warner returning to international cricket, dismissing any chance of a comeback. "It's not happening," she said, ruling out the prospect of Warner representing Australia again.
Earlier this month, the 38-year-old Warner had expressed his readiness to play against India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which begins in November, hinting that he was open to featuring in the five-Test series for Australia.
Speaking on Fox Sports' "The Back Page," Candice clarified that although Warner is still in good shape to play international cricket, he will not be making a return.
"He's incredibly passionate about playing for Australia, and I think if the selectors or coach Andrew McDonald called saying, ‘We need you,’ he would jump at the chance. But it's just not going to happen."
Candice further added, "I believe he wouldn't have mentioned a return unless he truly felt capable of performing internationally. But this is no slight on any opener or any player."
Warner retired from international cricket in July of this year, having played 112 Tests, 161 ODIs, and 110 T20 internationals throughout his career.
