Jalal Yunus on Tamim's return to international cricket
Jalal Yunus, the chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee, couldn't provide a clear statement regarding Tamim Iqbal's return to the national team. The fate of Tamim in the red and green jersey is yet to be clarified after discussions with the board president. To know Tamim's future plans and how things will progress in the coming days, we have to wait further.
Today (Wednesday), during a conversation with the media in Mirpur, Jalal Yunus, the head of the cricket operations department, talked about Tamim Iqbal's situation. When will Tamim return? There's no idea, said the chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
He has also had discussions with Tamim to know his plans. The rest depends on decisions made after discussions with BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon. Today in Mirpur, Jalal Yunus said,
"Has Tamim Iqbal said anything that suggests he will return? I cannot comment based on what others claim. We have not had any such discussions with him. The honorable board president gave us the responsibility to talk. We discussed his cricket plans. We have finished our discussions."
"Tamim Iqbal has only discussed his cricket plans with us. I cannot say what he discussed. You will know Tamim Iqbal's cricket plan after his discussions with the board president."
Tamim Iqbal, who retired from T20 cricket earlier, also doesn't want to play Test matches due to fitness reasons. According to the ICC's FTP, the Bangladesh team won't play any One Day series before December this year. Therefore, Tamim's return to international cricket is likely to be further delayed naturally.
