Nepal to Host Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers – Who’s Booking a Ticket to England?
Nepal has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, scheduled to take place from January 12 to February 2, 2025. The high-stakes tournament will feature 10 teams, with the top four earning a coveted spot in the main event to be held in England and Wales.
Tournament Format:
According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the 10 teams will be split into two groups. The group stage will be followed by a Super Six round and a final, through which the top four teams will secure qualification for the 2026 Women's T20 World Cup. The full fixture list will be announced later.
Confirmed Teams So Far:
Six teams have already booked their place in the global qualifier:
Bangladesh – Qualified by participating in the 2024 T20 World Cup
Ireland – Qualified by participating in the 2024 T20 World Cup
Nepal – Qualified as Asia regional hosts
Thailand – Qualified from Asia region
USA – Qualified through the Americas region
Remaining Spots:
The final four spots will be filled through regional qualifiers:
Africa region – 2 teams
Europe region – 2 teams
East Asia-Pacific (EAP) region – 1 team
Once those qualifiers conclude, the full list of 10 teams will be complete.
2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup – Main Tournament
The 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5, 2026. The tournament will consist of 33 matches over 24 days, hosted at seven iconic venues, including:
Old Trafford
Headingley
Hampshire Bowl
Bristol County Ground
The grand finale will be held at the Home of Cricket – Lord’s Cricket Ground.
This will mark Nepal’s first time hosting a global ICC women’s event, giving them not only home advantage but also a platform to grow the women’s game in the region.
