Afghanistan Complete 3-0 Series Sweep with Convincing 7-Wicket Victory

Afghanistan secured a comprehensive 3-0 series victory after defeating Zimbabwe by seven wickets in the third and final T20I at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.

After winning the toss, Afghanistan elected to bowl first. Zimbabwe suffered an early setback, losing three wickets for just 13 runs. Despite Ryan Burl’s attempt to steady the innings with a 30-run knock off 29 balls, the visitors failed to build a competitive total. Afghanistan’s bowlers maintained tight control, while spinner Noor Ahmad wreaked havoc on Zimbabwe’s batting lineup. He claimed five wickets for just 13 runs, as Zimbabwe were bowled out for a mere 79 in 14.3 overs.

Chasing a modest target of 80, Afghanistan adopted an aggressive approach from the outset. Although Mohammad Akram departed after scoring 14 runs off just five balls, captain Ibrahim Zadran and Sediqullah Atal made the chase comfortable for the hosts. Atal contributed 20 runs off 14 deliveries.

In the end, Ibrahim Zadran remained unbeaten on 25 off 17 balls, while Azmatullah Omarzai stayed not out on 18 off 12 deliveries, guiding Afghanistan to victory in just 8.1 overs with three wickets down. Afghanistan reached the target with 71 balls to spare, completing a clean sweep of the three-match series by a 3-0 margin. Noor Ahmad was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
