Akbar Ali to lead Bangladesh in Hong Kong Sixes
Former U-19 World Cup-winning wicketkeeper-batter Akbar Ali will face a new challenge as he leads Bangladesh in the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 tournament.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the squad on Wednesday, October 29. The tournament will be held at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong from November 7 to 9.
Bangladesh has yet to win a Hong Kong Sixes title, but the team regained momentum in the last edition, reaching the semifinals. This time, the Tigers aim to build on that success and go one step further.
Experienced bowling all-rounder Abu Haider Rony returns to the squad, while opener Zishan Alam, who impressed last season with 152 runs and 6 wickets in four matches, is also included. Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, a seasoned all-rounder with experience in 80 international matches across three formats, is part of the team. Mohammad Saifuddin, who claimed three wickets in four matches last season, will also play a key role.
The squad is further strengthened by left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan and pace-bowling all-rounder Tofail Ahmed Raihan. This new squad combines experience with youthful energy, raising hopes of a strong campaign for Bangladesh.
