Sri Lanka reached the final of the Hong Kong Sixes Tournament, defeating Bangladesh by 3 wickets in the semifinal. With this victory, Sri Lanka secured a spot in the final, while Bangladesh was eliminated from the tournament.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh posted a total of 103 runs for 5 wickets in the allotted 6 overs. Mohammad Saifuddin, who batted alone in the last over, scored 23 runs off 12 balls, pushing Bangladesh’s score beyond the 100-mark. Opener Zishan Alam played a quick innings, scoring 36 runs off 11 balls, while the other opener Abdullah Al Mamun contributed 16 runs from just 4 balls. Yasir Ali Rabbi was dismissed without scoring, Abu Hider Rony scored 18, and Sohag Gazi hit a six before getting out after just two balls.
Chasing an easy target of 104, Sri Lanka reached the score in just 5.5 overs. Mohammad Saifuddin's opening over went for 25 runs, with Sri Lankan opener Sandun Virakodi taking full advantage. Sohag Gazi’s over proved expensive as well, costing 21 runs. Abu Hider Rony, however, managed to break Sri Lanka's opening partnership.
