Chattogram Cruise to 10-Wicket Victory as Dhaka Collapse with the Bat
In a one-sided contest in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Chattogram Royals thrashed Dhaka Capitals by 10 wickets. Chasing a modest target, Chattogram reached the total in just 12.4 overs without losing a wicket.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Dhaka Capitals were bowled out for 122 in 19.4 overs. The innings got off to a poor start as Saif Hassan was dismissed for 1 and Zubaid Akbari managed only 2, putting Dhaka under early pressure. Usman Khan scored 21, but captain Mohammad Mithun failed to build an innings, departing for 8.
Dhaka continued to lose wickets at regular intervals in the middle overs. Shamim Hossain scored 4, Sabbir Rahman made 9, and Imad Wasim also contributed 9 runs. Nasir Hossain showed some resistance with 17, while Mohammad Saifuddin provided the lone fight at the end, top-scoring with 33 runs. Taskin Ahmed added 5, and Salman Mirza was run out without scoring.
Chattogram’s bowlers shared the wickets evenly, dismantling Dhaka’s batting lineup and preventing them from completing their full quota of 20 overs.
In reply, Chattogram Royals faced no resistance. Openers Mohammad Naim and Adam Rossington dominated the Dhaka bowling attack from the outset and never allowed the opposition back into the game. Naim remained unbeaten on 54 off 38 balls, while Rossington scored an unbeaten 60 off 38 balls, guiding their team to a comfortable victory with an unbroken partnership.
With this emphatic win, Chattogram Royals secured two valuable points in the tournament, while Dhaka Capitals were left to rue another disappointing batting performance that dealt a heavy blow to their confidence.
