England in the Driver's Seat in Edgbaston Test

At the end of the third day in the Edgbaston Test, England is firmly in control. Having already won the first two Tests against the West Indies, the hosts are on the verge of a series sweep, leading 2-0.

England found themselves under pressure early on the second day, losing five wickets for just 54 runs. It seemed like the West Indies might secure a much-needed win against the English. However, Joe Root and Ben Stokes led a resilient fightback.

England posted a total of 376 runs on the scoreboard, gaining a 96-run lead in the first innings over the West Indies.

Joe Root scored 87 runs off 124 balls, Ben Stokes added 54 runs off 69 balls, and Jamie Smith narrowly missed a century, scoring 95 runs. All-rounder Chris Woakes also contributed significantly with 62 runs.

In their second innings, the West Indies struggled, ending the third day's play at 33 runs for 2 wickets. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite was dismissed for a duck after facing just 6 balls, and Kirk McKenzie scored 8 runs. The West Indies are still trailing by 61 runs in their second innings.
