Five Teams to Compete in BPL This Year, Final Franchise Names Announced
Although the stage for this year’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is smaller, the excitement remains undiminished. Ending weeks of speculation, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the franchises that will participate in this year’s tournament. It was previously known that out of 11 commercial entities that applied, three corporate houses were eliminated first, leaving eight for final consideration. After the selection process, five franchises were ultimately confirmed.
The five final commercial entities are Togi Sports, Triangle Sports, Nabil Group, Cricket with Sami, and Champion Sports. Togi Sports will represent Rangpur, Triangle Sports Chattogram, Nabil Group Rajshahi, Cricket with Sami Sylhet, and Champion Sports Dhaka. The names of these franchises were announced on Tuesday (November 4) at 10:00 pm at the temporary office of the BPL Governing Council in Navana Tower, Gulshan.
BCB Governing Council chairman Iftikhar Rahman Mithu stated that this year’s players’ draft is scheduled for November 17. The tournament is expected to begin on December 19, with the final match set for January 16.
