ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Dinesh Karthik Praises Rishad Hossain as Group D's Top Player

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 features 20 teams divided into four groups of five. In Group D, Bangladesh competed alongside South Africa, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and Nepal.

Bangladesh and South Africa secured their spots in the Super Eight, leaving behind Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and Nepal.

In a discussion with Cricbuzz about the performances in this group, former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik expressed his admiration for Rishad Hossain. Karthik named the leg-spinner as the top player of Group D.

Karthik said, “The best player I have seen in this group (D) is Rishad Hossain. I am very impressed by his excellent bowling. He got good bite off the wicket... He may not have taken many wickets, but he is an outstanding talent. You don't often see wrist spinners emerging from Bangladesh. I believe they have found a gem in Rishad Hossain.”

Moreover, Karthik compared the Bangladesh-Sri Lanka match to the intense rivalries of India-Pakistan and Australia-England.

He stated, "The Bangladesh-Sri Lanka match can now compete with Australia-England, India-Pakistan in terms of rivalry. They have developed an excellent rivalry."
