Liton Falls Before Tea After Revival Stand with Mushfiqur; Bangladesh 144/5

Bangladesh found themselves in deep trouble on Day 1 of the second Test in Colombo, losing four wickets before reaching 100 runs. However, a timely rain interruption brought a much-needed pause — and a chance to regroup. After a break of more than two hours, the Tigers mounted a solid recovery through a determined partnership between Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim.

The duo added 67 runs for the fifth wicket, steadying the innings and taking the fight back to Sri Lanka. Liton Das looked composed during his 56-ball stay, scoring 34 runs with graceful strokes, including a few crisp boundaries.

But just before the tea break, Liton became debutant Sunal Dinusha's maiden Test wicket, edging to the slips and ending the promising partnership. His dismissal deepened Bangladesh's woes once again.

At tea on Day 1, Bangladesh reached 144 for 5 in 49 overs. Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten on 34 off 64 deliveries, with five boundaries to his name. New batter Mehidy Hasan Miraz was yet to score, having faced just one ball before the break.

Despite the setbacks, the middle-order partnership between Mushfiqur and Liton has kept Bangladesh afloat after early top-order collapses — and the team will now look to build a respectable first-innings total in the final session.
