Mumbai Indians tasted yet another defeat
Mumbai Indians tasted yet another defeat at the hands of Lucknow's Super Giants. Hardik Pandya's team lost by 4 wickets. Mumbai first batted, managing to score 144 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Lucknow secured victory in 19.2 overs.
Despite losing a wicket in the very first over, Markram Stoinis instilled confidence in Lucknow. He returned to form and contributed significantly to the team's decent position. Opener Lokesh Rahul scored 28 runs off 22 balls, while Deepak Hooda added 18 runs. However, it was Stoinis who anchored the innings, scoring 62 runs off 45 balls, including 7 fours and 2 sixes. Nicholas Pooran remained unbeaten, scoring 14 runs off 14 balls.
Before that, Mumbai had a shaky start after losing the toss and opting to bat first. Ishan Kishan's innings of 32 runs off 36 balls seemed somewhat promising amidst a lackluster top order. The rest of the batsmen struggled to make an impact, from Rohit Sharma to Hardik Pandya.
Nehal Wadhwa and Tim David emerged as the most effective for Lucknow, ensuring some stability in the team's run chase. Their partnership posed a challenge to the opposition, with Nehal scoring 46 runs off 41 balls and David remaining unbeaten with 35 runs off 18 balls.
Mumbai Indians concluded their innings at 144 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Mahsina Khan was the top wicket-taker for Lucknow, securing 2 wickets. Other bowlers also contributed with single wickets each.
