Nasir Hossain’s batting was the key to Dhaka’s victory over Noakhali in the BPL. He reached a fifty in just 21 balls, setting the record for the fastest fifty in this season’s tournament. His unbeaten 90 off 50 balls helped Dhaka chase down the target comfortably.
After the match, Nasir Hossain, speaking at the post-match press conference, said,
"Earlier, no one gave me the chance at No. 3 (laughs). Performing there felt good. In T20s, I think scoring runs higher up the order is a bit easier. During the powerplay, nine fielders are inside, and you can take some calculated risks. After the powerplay, it’s not the same. I always enjoy batting during the powerplay. Today, I tried to score as many runs as possible. I felt the ball on the bat, and after that, maybe I couldn’t score in the same way. I tried to make the most runs while the new ball was in play."
He also mentioned that he was in a position to score a century towards the end, but the target was low, so Dhaka had already secured the win. When asked if the match could have been more exciting if Noakhali had scored more, Nasir said,
"No, given that we had lost 2–3 matches earlier, we needed a win for momentum."
Playing at No. 3 for the first time this season, Nasir added,
"The decision was taken by the captain (Mohammad Mithun). If a left-hander got out, maybe Irfan Shukkur would have come in. They had two right-hand/left-hand spinners, and we didn’t want two batsmen of the same handedness on the crease together."
Nasir also explained that although he was in great form in the earlier NCL T20s, he hadn’t played at No. 3 because Saif Hasan occupied that position,
"You see, Saif was in our team. He bats at No. 3 and does the same in the national team as an international player. That’s probably why I didn’t get the chance."
Regarding the possibility of batting at No. 4, he said,
"There was no such discussion. Since we have national team and World Cup players, priority is given to them."
Speaking about the role of finishers and overall team strategy, Nasir said,
"Those who score 800–900 runs in the Premier League often bat at No. 6. Then, in 1 or 2 matches, they’ll get runs. I think those who bat at No. 6–7 in the national team should also bat there in the Premier League. At No. 6, it often takes time to get runs—6–7–8 runs—so it’s not that easy."
