Pakistan Women Claim Bronze, Bangladesh Return Home Disappointed

Pakistan Women defeated Bangladesh Women by 31 runs in the bronze medal match of the women’s T20 cricket event at the 2026 Asian Games, held in Nishin, Japan.

After winning the toss, Pakistan elected to bat first and posted 145 for 8 in 20 overs. They found themselves under some pressure after losing quick wickets early in the innings, but captain Fatima Sana’s 45 off 30 balls and Aliya Riaz’s 25 helped Pakistan put up a competitive total. For Bangladesh, Nahida Akter, Sorna Akter and Ritu Moni claimed two wickets each.

Chasing 146, Bangladesh’s batters struggled to score freely against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack from the very beginning. Opener Sharmin Akter held one end together with a 46 off 45 balls, while captain Nigar Sultana Joty scored 25 off 30 balls. However, the failure of the other batters left the Tigresses well short of the target.

Umme Hani produced an impressive spell of 3 for 10 as Bangladesh could manage only 114 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. As a result, Pakistan secured the bronze medal by defeating Bangladesh.
