The night of devastation over Kabul was not just about destruction; it brought deep anger and human questions to the surface. The Pakistani airstrike that claimed civilian lives has drawn strong reactions from Afghanistan’s star cricketers, with the world-class all-rounder Rashid Khan speaking out most vocally.

In response to the incident on his official X account, Rashid Khan labeled attacks on civilian areas as outright war crimes. Highlighting the horror and humanitarian impact of the strike, he wrote:

“Civilian homes, educational institutions, or medical facilities targeted, whether intentionally or accidentally, are all war crimes. Especially during the holy month of Ramadan, playing with people’s lives in this way is terrifying and deeply concerning.”

He also expressed concern over the long-term consequences of such attacks and called on the international community to investigate. Rashid Khan added:

“Such actions will only increase division and hatred. I urge the United Nations and other human rights organizations to investigate this incident. During this difficult time, I stand with my Afghan people. We will heal properly and become strong again. We always do.”

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s experienced all-rounder Mohammad Nabi shared his grief and despair following the attack in Kabul, particularly highlighting the impact on hospitals in an emotional social media post.

In Nabi’s words:

“Tonight in Kabul, hope has been lost in a hospital. Young people who came seeking medical care were killed in the attack by the Pakistani military. Mothers stood at the gates calling out their children’s names. On the 28th night of Ramadan, their lives were suddenly ended.”
