Ricky Ponting steps down as Delhi Capitals head coach
Ricky Ponting has stepped down from the position of head coach of IPL team Delhi Capitals. Ponting had been with DC since 2018, and the former Australian captain served as the team's head coach for seven seasons. Delhi reached the IPL final for the first time in the 2020 season.
Ricky Ponting has resigned from the position of head coach of Delhi Capitals, the franchise announced on X on Saturday. The former Australian captain had been with the franchise for the past seven tournaments since 2018. Ponting took over as DC's head coach in 2018 when the team was known as the Delhi Daredevils.
Under Ponting's leadership, Delhi Capitals achieved some of the best successes in the league. In the 2020 season, they reached the final in the UAE. His seven-year relationship with the franchise ended before the mega auction for IPL 2025.
The Delhi franchise has not yet announced the name of his successor for this role.
