Saikat and Illingworth to officiate T20 World Cup opener
Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid Saikat will be the first Bangladeshi umpire to officiate in a match at this year's T20 World Cup. While this is already known, the new update is that Saikat will be umpiring the tournament's opening match between the United States and Canada.
The 47-year-old Saikat has previously officiated in the 50-over World Cup. Additionally, he has umpired in the ICC Women's World Cup and the Women's T20 World Cup.
In the first match, Saikat will be joined by Richard Illingworth. Richie Richardson will serve as the match referee. The TV umpire will be Sam Nogajski, and Langton Rusere will be the fourth umpire.
