Shakib misses fifty, Zia storm in Savar
On March 27th of the past month, Shakib Al Hasan took to the field against Gazi Group Cricketers in Savar. He contributed significantly with both bat and ball for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club. With 65 balls, he scored 53 runs and spent 14 runs to secure 2 wickets. Shakib emerged as the match's best performer.
More than a month later, today (April 30th), Shakib returned to the field in Savar for the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). Despite starting off well in the match against Abahani Limited in the Super League, he couldn't end it on a satisfying note.
In a steady innings of 56 balls, he hit 2 fours and 3 sixes. He was caught out by Tanzim Hasan Sakib, missing his fifty by just 1 run.
Shakib's departure at 40 took Sykat Ali and Nurul Hasan Sohan back to the pavilion at 41 runs each.
However, coming in to bat at number nine, Ziaur Rahman took on a stormy batting display, lifting the team with a score of 85 runs from 58 balls, including 6 fours and 8 sixes. With this innings, Sheikh Jamal could reach 267 runs on the scoreboard in 50 overs, adding 82 runs with Ripon Mandal for the 9th wicket.
