Sujon Ready to Return to BCB if Tamim Calls

Discussions have resurfaced in Bangladesh cricket’s administrative circle over the possible return of a familiar figure. Khaled Mahmud Sujon, who served for years in board management and remained closely involved with the country’s cricket structure, has indicated that he is willing to work again with the Bangladesh Cricket Board if given the opportunity.

Having extensive experience both as a cricketer and an organizer, Sujon made it clear that cricket has always been at the core of his life. Reflecting on his early connection with the game and his transition into coaching and administration after retirement, he explained his position while expressing his willingness to contribute his experience.

He said, “Since I am a cricketing person, I have been playing cricket since I was 13-14 years old, I have never left the cricket field. After finishing my playing career, I moved into coaching, and I have been working as an organizer for many years. If Tamim wants my experience, there is no reason for me to say no.”

Earlier, his presence at the BCB premises after nearly two years also sparked fresh speculation. Responding to a call from current ad-hoc committee president Tamim Iqbal, Sujon visited the board after 21 months, which many see as a sign of a possible comeback.

When asked whether there was any resentment or frustration behind his long absence, Sujon pointed to the broader national context. Emphasizing practicality over personal emotions, he addressed the issue candidly.

He said, “I actually had no resentment. The country’s context is such that there is no benefit in talking about it. We have to accept it. What matters is whether we were able to do good work at the BCB.”

Speaking about the evaluation of his tenure, Sujon refrained from making personal claims and instead left the judgment to the public. Highlighting his commitment and effort during his time, he added,

“I believe I gave my hundred percent effort to do good work for cricket during my tenure. Whether I succeeded or not is for people to judge. There is no point in praising myself.”

Meanwhile, Sujon also shared a positive outlook on Tamim Iqbal’s leadership and plans as the current board president. He believes that even in an interim role, Tamim has the mindset to work collectively rather than individually.

In this regard, Sujon said, “I think Tamim has been given interim responsibility. He seems capable of making decisions and working together with everyone. His intention is not to do things alone; rather, he is thinking about how to take Bangladesh cricket forward collectively.”
