Tanzim Hasan Sakib Receives Two-Match Ban for Aggressive Behavior in BPL
Sylhet Strikers' pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib has been penalized for aggressive behavior in the BPL for the second time. While he was fined previously, this time he has been banned for two matches and has received four demerit points. Due to the punishment in the BPL, Sakib will also be banned for two matches in the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL).
The two-match ban is a consequence of receiving four demerit points in 24 months. This penalty only applies to domestic cricket, and Sakib is still eligible to play international cricket. He is part of the Bangladesh squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Sakib's team, Sylhet Strikers, has already been eliminated from the group stage of the BPL. As a result, he will have to serve his two-match ban in the upcoming DPL, regardless of which team he plays for.
The incident occurred during the match last night when, after taking the wicket of Chittagong Kings' batter Graham Clark in the third over, Sakib was heard making comments directed towards Clark.
Earlier in this BPL season, Sakib was fined 50% of his match fee for breaching the code of conduct. He also received three demerit points. The incident occurred when Sakib was involved in a shoulder-bumping altercation with Pakistan's Mohammad Nawaz after dismissing him.
