Tanzim Sakib Fined for Breaching Code of Conduct, Receives 3 Demerit Points
Despite winning the match, Sylhet Strikers' pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib is not at ease after being penalized for breaching the Code of Conduct. He has been fined 50% of his match fee and has received 3 demerit points. A Level-2 Code of Conduct breach charge was brought against Sakib.
In the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League, after leading Fortune Barisal's captain Tamim Iqbal, Tanzim Sakib became the second player to face punishment. In the previous match, after dismissing Mohammad Nawaz of Khulna Tigers, Sakib celebrated in an exaggerated manner, and an exchange of heated words followed.
Match referee Ehsanul Haque penalized Sakib for breaching Level-2 of the Code of Conduct. Sakib accepted the charges and the punishment, meaning no hearing was required.
Sakib’s actions were deemed inappropriate and unsporting, leading to the fine and demerit points. According to the Code of Conduct, players found guilty of Level-2 breaches face a minimum penalty of a reprimand and a maximum fine of 50% of their match fee, along with demerit points.
This is the second penalty handed out in the ongoing BPL, with Tanzim Sakib following in the footsteps of Tamim Iqbal.
