Rangpur Riders have appointed former Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur as their head coach for the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). This will be Arthur’s second stint as a coach in the BPL, having previously served as the head coach for Dhaka Dynamites in 2015.
The official announcement was made on Rangpur Riders' Facebook page on Friday night.
Sharing a photo of Arthur, they captioned it: “Welcome to Rangpur Riders, Head Coach Mickey Arthur! Rangpur Riders are ready to make new history under the guidance of such a world-class coach!”
Mickey Arthur has an extensive coaching career, having led major teams like South Africa, Australia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. During his time as head coach, Arthur guided Pakistan to win the 2017 Champions Trophy. He was also part of Pakistan’s coaching staff in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Besides securing a high-profile coach for this season's BPL, Rangpur Riders have also roped in several star players. The team, which reached the semifinals last season, now boasts players like Alex Hales, Soumya Sarkar, Nahid Rana, Mohammad Saifuddin, Nurul Hasan, Mahedi Hasan, Khushdil Shah, Tawfiq Khan Tushar, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Irfan Sukkur, Rejaur Rahman Raja, Curtis Campher, Akif Javed, Raqibul Hasan Jr., Saif Hasan, and Iftikhar Ahmed.
