Womens BPL to Begin in July

The inaugural edition of the Women’s Bangladesh Premier League (WBPL) T20 is set to take place from 10 to 21 July 2026. The three-team tournament will be held across three venues—Bogura, Chattogram and Dhaka.

Earlier, the competition was scheduled to be held from 4 to 14 April 2026. However, after consultations with potential franchise owners and other key stakeholders, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) decided to reschedule the tournament.

According to the BCB, the decision was made to allow additional time for teams to prepare, including squad formation, recruitment of international players and other operational planning.

The revised schedule also aligns well with the international cricket calendar. As the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is set to take place in June 2026, hosting the tournament afterwards is expected to increase the availability of overseas players.

The opening ceremony and the first match of the tournament will be held at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura. Matches will also take place in Chattogram and Dhaka. The final will be played on 21 July at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

Details regarding franchises, players and commercial partners will be announced in due course, the BCB said.
