Called Up for National Duty, Nahid and Shariful Leave PSL with Team on Top
Bangladesh pacers Shariful Islam and Nahid Rana are set to leave the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on a high, as national team duties bring an early end to their campaign despite impressive performances in Pakistan.
Having been named in the squad for the upcoming series against New Zealand, the two bowlers are unable to continue in the PSL. As a result, they are scheduled to return home ahead of time.
Before departing, both players made their presence felt. They played key roles in Peshawar Zalmi’s victory on Monday.
Right-arm pacer Nahid Rana delivered an outstanding spell, picking up two wickets for just 24 runs in his four overs, making a significant impact on the match. Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Shariful Islam, although wicketless, maintained control by conceding only 27 runs in his four overs.
Nahid has been particularly consistent throughout the tournament. In four matches, he has claimed seven wickets at an impressive economy rate of just 5.42 runs per over.
Shariful, who has played one more match, has taken two wickets so far. However, he has also been fairly economical, conceding 7.93 runs per over.
Both players are expected to return to Bangladesh on Wednesday, as they shift focus to their national team commitments.
Their departure comes at a positive moment for their franchise. Peshawar Zalmi currently sit at the top of the points table with 11 points from six matches, including five wins and one abandoned game.
Multan Sultans are in second place with 8 points, having secured four wins and suffered two defeats from the same number of matches.
