There were smiles in the Bangladesh camp at the end of the third day of the Mirpur Test. After taking a first-innings lead against Pakistan, the Tigers managed to put themselves in a strong position in the match. At the center of that success was Mehidy Hasan Miraz, whose disciplined off-spin dismantled the Pakistani batting lineup.

Speaking at the press conference after the day’s play, Miraz reflected on Bangladesh’s overall bowling performance. He especially praised young pacer Nahid Rana for the way he fought back despite an expensive start. According to the all-rounder, the support and confidence from teammates helped Nahid make an important impact later in the innings.

‘Nahid Rana bowled really well. His first two spells were a bit expensive. But we gave him a lot of confidence. He also gave us a breakthrough, which was very important. They had already scored quite a lot of runs and built a partnership.’

Miraz also highlighted the contribution of Taskin Ahmed, who recently returned to the Test side after recovering from injury. The spinner explained how disciplined bowling from both ends created pressure on the batters and made wicket-taking easier for the team. He also appreciated Taskin’s rhythm and control despite playing a Test match after a long break.

‘Because of the way Taskin bowled, we managed to restrict them to a lower score. My job became easier when he picked up two wickets. Our partnership was really good. We bowled around 10 overs together. If one end is tight but runs keep coming from the other end, then wicket-taking opportunities won’t come. But when both ends are tight, batters start looking for scoring opportunities because cricket is a game of runs. It was a bit difficult for Taskin since he was playing a Test after a long time. But overall, I really liked his bowling. Rana and Ebadot also bowled well. I don’t think our bowling unit did badly. We stopped them before they could take the lead.’
