West Indies and Proteas Returning Home After Flight Disruptions

West Indies and South Africa have finally received permission to return home from India, with the ICC confirming their travel schedules.

Sources say both teams will first travel to Johannesburg via chartered flights. From there, the West Indies team will proceed to their final destination, St. John’s, Antigua.

Earlier, England had flown directly from Mumbai to London on Saturday evening. Initially, it was expected that South Africa and West Indies would leave India on Sunday. However, their departure was later rescheduled for Tuesday.

West Indies were eliminated from the World Cup after losing to India in the Super Eight stage, while South Africa lost to New Zealand in the semifinals. England also exited the tournament after losing to India in the second semifinal.

Ongoing military tensions in the Middle East disrupted international air travel, preventing the teams from leaving India as planned. West Indies coach Darren Sammy expressed his disappointment over the situation. Additionally, South African players Quinton de Kock and David Miller alleged that the ICC treated teams unequally by allowing England to return home earlier.

With the travel schedule now confirmed, members of the West Indies and South African teams are reportedly relieved.
