Colin Ingram Brings an End to a Glorious Two-Decade Career

After spending more than two decades in professional cricket, experienced South African cricketer Colin Ingram has announced his retirement. The left-handed batter will hang up his bat and pads for good at the end of the ongoing season, bringing a remarkable chapter of his long and successful association with county club Glamorgan to a close.

Announcing his retirement, Ingram wrote on social media, “I gave it my all and enjoyed the whole journey.”

In international cricket, Ingram represented South Africa in 31 ODIs and nine T20Is. In the ODI format, he scored 843 runs at an average of 32.42, including three centuries. He made history by scoring a century on his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2010, smashing 124 runs.

He became the first South African cricketer to score a century on ODI debut.

Ingram joined Glamorgan County Cricket Club in 2015. Along with becoming one of the team’s most reliable performers at Sophia Gardens, he also served as the club’s T20 captain in 2018 and 2019. Across all formats, he has scored 31 centuries for Glamorgan. He was also the club’s leading run-scorer during their 2025 County Championship campaign.

Ingram’s career has been impressive not only in county cricket but also in franchise leagues. He has featured in major tournaments such as the Indian Premier League (IPL), Big Bash League (BBL), and Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Following his retirement, Ingram will immediately embark on a coaching career. He will take up a coaching role at Glamorgan, where he will work to develop the club’s young and emerging players.
