Young pacer Ripon Mondol has earned his maiden call-up to the national team. Following impressive performances in the BPL and domestic cricket, Ripon has been included in the squad for the first two ODIs against New Zealand.

Overwhelmed with emotion after getting the opportunity to represent Bangladesh, Ripon shared a heartfelt post on social media. His message is verbatim below—

“My child’s smiling face says it all—how joyful this day is for me and my entire family. As long as I play cricket, I want to keep seeing this happiness in the eyes of my family. May Allah grant me that ability. Ameen.

I said it once before, and today I want to say it again—

When you praise me, I feel inspired and it makes me happy. When you criticize me, I understand that something is not quite right. That’s when I push myself to work harder and strive even more to improve. Whatever I am today, whatever I have achieved, it is all because of you. Alhamdulillah.

Today, I want to say this—just as you appreciate me when I do well, please also criticize me when I don’t. Constructive criticism. The kind that points out my mistakes and helps me understand how I should prepare myself better next time.
