Afif Recalled as Squad Announced for Pakistan Series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad for the three-match ODI series against Pakistan, set to begin in Dhaka on 11 March. The remaining two matches of the series will be held on 13 and 15 March.

All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will lead the side. There are several changes to the squad. Nurul Hasan Sohan, Jaker Ali Anik and Shamim Hossain, who were part of the team that played against the West Indies in October last year, have been left out this time. Additionally, two pacers — Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan Sakib — are unavailable for the series due to injuries.

Afif Hossain has been recalled to the squad. Chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain said, “We provided opportunities to several players in the middle order, but unfortunately some were unable to do enough to secure their places. That is why Afif Hossain has been brought back. He is experienced and currently in good form.”

Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan has also been retained. According to the selectors, this is a great opportunity for him to fulfil the potential he has shown.

Despite questions over Litton Kumar Das’s recent ODI form, the team management remains optimistic about him. Gazi Ashraf said, “Litton has been working closely with the coaches. We believe he can soon produce his best in this format. He is being considered as an option to further strengthen the middle order.”

Bangladesh Squad:

Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Captain), Soumya Sarkar, Saif Hassan, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Towhid Hridoy, Litton Kumar Das, Afif Hossain, Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan, Rishad Hossain, Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Nahid Rana.
