Bangladesh seal series win over Pakistan on Tanzids century
Bangladesh clinched the series by defeating Pakistan by 11 runs in the series-deciding third ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. In an exciting contest, the hosts posted 290 for 5 in their allotted 50 overs after batting first. In reply, Pakistan fought hard but were eventually bowled out for 279 in 50 overs. With the 11-run victory, Bangladesh won the three-match series 2–1.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, Bangladesh started cautiously. However, opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim laid the foundation of the innings. Displaying great confidence, the left-hander dominated the Pakistani bowlers with an impressive knock of 107 runs off 107 balls, which included several boundaries and sixes. His century guided Bangladesh towards a competitive total.
In the middle overs, Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto attempted to stabilize the innings. Later, Towhid Hridoy played an effective knock that strengthened Bangladesh’s position. Contributions from the middle order towards the end, along with some extras, helped Bangladesh reach a challenging total of 290 for 5 in 50 overs.
Chasing 291, Pakistan suffered early setbacks. They lost five wickets for just 82 runs. Despite wickets falling at regular intervals, Salman Ali Agha held one end and kept Pakistan in the contest. The right-hander brought up a brilliant century and tried to revive the chase. However, lack of support from the other end meant Pakistan ultimately fell short of the target.
Bangladesh’s bowlers delivered disciplined spells towards the end. Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman struck at crucial moments to keep Bangladesh in control. Maintaining pressure in the final overs, they bowled Pakistan out for 279. Taskin Ahmed was the standout performer with the ball, claiming four wickets.
As a result, Bangladesh secured an important 11-run victory and sealed the three-match ODI series 2–1. Tanzid Hasan Tamim’s century proved to be the match-defining performance.
