Three Bangladesh Cricketers Included in Top Category for ILT20 Auction

Three star cricketers from Bangladesh have been included in the highest base-price category for the auction of the fifth edition of the UAE’s International League T20 (ILT20).

On Tuesday, the tournament authorities unveiled the much-anticipated final list featuring more than half of the cricketers from 23 countries. Based on player salaries, the entire list has been divided into three categories, with the highest base price set at US$80,000. The base prices for the other two categories are US$40,000 and US$10,000, respectively. A total of 10 Bangladeshi cricketers have been included in the auction list.

Fast bowler Nahid Rana and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, both placed in the top category with a base price of US$80,000, are in line to make their debuts in the highly competitive Middle Eastern league. Experienced pacer Taskin Ahmed is also in the same category and has prior experience in the tournament. In the previous edition, he took nine wickets in six matches for Sharjah Warriors. However, ahead of the upcoming season, Taskin was released by his former franchise.

Meanwhile, four Bangladeshi representatives have been placed in the US$40,000 middle category. The list includes pacers Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful Islam, star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, and Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Three all-rounders and cricketers—Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Jaker Ali Anik, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib—have been placed in the lowest base-price category of US$10,000.

Notably, all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan featured for MI Emirates in the previous edition, when they finished runners-up. He scored 115 runs with the bat and also claimed three important wickets with the ball.

Bangladesh’s left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman, meanwhile, secured his place even before the auction proceedings began. Dubai Capitals retained the cutter specialist for the upcoming season. He played eight matches for the franchise in the previous edition and took 15 wickets.
