Pakistan Suffer Major Blow as Shan Masood Ruled Out of Second Test Against West Indies with Finger Fracture

Pakistan have suffered a major setback ahead of the second and final Test against the West Indies, with experienced batter Shan Masood ruled out after fracturing a finger.

Masood scored a brilliant century in the first Test at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. However, during his innings, he was struck on the index finger of his left hand by a delivery from West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales. Subsequent scans confirmed that he had sustained a fracture.

Despite the injury, Masood continued to bat but had to move down the order to number eight in Pakistan’s second innings. The visitors eventually lost the match by 90 runs, allowing the West Indies to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.

In a statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that following scans and a clinical assessment, Masood is currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of the team’s medical panel.

The PCB also confirmed that his availability for the first Test against England, scheduled to begin on August 19 in Leeds, will depend on his recovery and clinical progress.

After concluding the West Indies series, Pakistan will tour England for a three-match Test series, followed by a five-match One-Day International (ODI) series.
