New Zealand fast bowler Nathan Smith has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June. He earned the prestigious award following his outstanding bowling performances in the ICC World Test Championship series against England on English soil.

Smith secured the honor ahead of a strong field of nominees, which included India’s captain Shubman Gill and Bangladesh all-rounder Mosaddek Hossain.

During the three-match Test series against England, Smith claimed 16 wickets, finishing as the highest wicket-taker of the series. Although New Zealand won the series 2-1, Smith’s career-best performances stood out from the very beginning. In the first Test at Lord’s, he picked up six wickets for 70 runs in the second innings to finish with nine wickets in the match. He also made a significant contribution with the ball in the series-deciding third Test, helping New Zealand secure the series victory.

Reacting to the award, Nathan Smith said, “It is a really special feeling. The tour of England was fantastic for our team. I don’t usually play for individual awards, but receiving this recognition is very rewarding. Most importantly, I’m pleased that I was able to contribute to the team’s series win.”

Meanwhile, England opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge was named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for June.
