Bangladesh Make a Strong Start in Abu Dhabi, Reach 134-1 at Lunch
Bangladesh made an excellent start on the opening day of the one-off Test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. After winning the toss and opting to bat, the Tigers produced an impressive batting display in the first session of Day 1. Bangladesh reached 134 for 1 at lunch.
After electing to bat, Bangladesh began cautiously, with the two openers building a solid partnership while keeping the scoreboard ticking. At the end of the first 26 overs, Bangladesh had lost just one wicket. The composed yet aggressive batting of openers Tanzid Tamim and Shadman Islam put the Tigers in a strong position early in the match.
Afghanistan’s bowlers tried to make early inroads but struggled to break through consistently against Bangladesh’s determined batters. After the lunch break, Bangladesh will return to the crease for the second session, aiming to build on their strong foundation and post a substantial total.
Tanzid Tamim departed after scoring a brilliant 83 off 71 balls, falling to a catch off Ismat Alam’s bowling. His innings featured eight fours and four sixes. At the other end, Shadman Islam remained unbeaten on 41 off 79 deliveries, including five boundaries. New batter Mominul Haque was unbeaten on 5 at the lunch interval.
