Big Blow for Mohammedan: Tawhid Hridoy Faces Four-Match Suspension in DPL
Mohammedan Sporting Club suffered a major setback at a crucial stage of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) as their captain, Tawhid Hridoy, faces a fresh disciplinary action. During their match against Gazi Group Cricketers, Hridoy expressed dissatisfaction over an umpiring decision, resulting in a Level-1 offense charge.
He has been fined BDT 10,000 and handed an additional demerit point. This brings his total demerit points to eight, which, according to regulations, triggers an automatic four-match suspension. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has yet to issue an official announcement.
Hridoy showed his displeasure after being given out by shaking his head while still at the crease, an act deemed a breach of the on-field code of conduct. As a result, his participation in the next crucial match against Abahani Limited is now in serious doubt.
Currently, both Abahani and Mohammedan are tied on points at the top of the table. Their clash on April 29 is being billed as an unofficial final. Losing Hridoy could significantly impact Mohammedan's balance and chances in this high-stakes match.
Earlier in the tournament, Hridoy was suspended for two matches for misconduct with an umpire, although the suspension was later reduced to one match. In a dramatic turn of events, he was eventually allowed to return to action. However, with this latest breach, Mohammedan's hopes of clinching the title have taken a major hit.
