Nasum Ahmed Guides Mohammedan to Thrilling Last-Ball Victory in DPL
Nasum Ahmed held his nerve to seal a thrilling last-ball victory for Mohammedan Sporting Club against Gazi Group Cricketers in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL). Mohammedan clinched a 4-wicket win in the nail-biting encounter.
Amid ongoing discussions and criticism, Mohammedan captain Towhid Hridoy played a cautious knock, scoring 37 runs off 54 balls.
Batting first, Gazi Group Cricketers got off to a solid start with their openers putting up a 47-run partnership, broken by Mohammad Saifuddin. Munim Shahriar was the top scorer for Gazi Group, making 80 runs with 10 fours and 2 sixes before being dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman. However, Gazi Group stumbled, losing their first five wickets for just 160 runs.
Tawhidul Islam scored 32, and Sheikh Parvez Jibon contributed 33, but Gazi Group were bowled out for 236 with two balls left in the innings. For Mohammedan, both Saifuddin and Mustafizur picked up three wickets each, while Nabil Samad grabbed two.
Chasing 237, opener Rony Talukdar provided a strong foundation with a 55-run knock. Captain Towhid Hridoy added 37 runs, while Mahmudullah scored a steady 49 off 62 balls.
Mohammedan needed 33 runs from the final 22 deliveries with Saifuddin and Nasum Ahmed at the crease. Nasum struck two sixes and a four in a calm but aggressive innings, scoring an unbeaten 21 off 13 balls to steer Mohammedan to victory. Saifuddin remained unbeaten on 30. For Gazi Group, Wasi Siddique and Shamim Miah took two wickets each.
