Rishad Hossain Eyes BBL Debut After Last Season’s Missed Opportunity

Bangladesh’s young leg-spinner Rishad Hossain is once again in contention to play in the Big Bash League (BBL) after narrowly missing out last season. Despite being picked by the Hobart Hurricanes, a last-minute denial of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) prevented him from traveling to Australia.

It was a bitter pill to swallow. While the Hurricanes went on to win their first-ever BBL title, celebrating with the trophy in hand, Rishad had to watch from afar—stuck at home with nothing but the disappointment of a missed chance.

Now, the 21-year-old all-rounder is putting that frustration behind him and preparing for a fresh shot. The Hurricanes have included him again, and his name features in the list of foreign players released by BBL organizers ahead of the 2024–25 season draft.

This time, should the BCB grant him the green light, fans could finally see Rishad's leg-spin skills on Australian soil. It would mark his debut in the BBL—a potentially career-defining moment.

More than just a personal milestone, Rishad’s participation could signal a significant breakthrough for Bangladesh cricket, particularly in the realm of international T20 franchise leagues, where Bangladeshi leg-spinners have had limited exposure. His success might also serve as inspiration for a new generation of spin talents back home.

For now, all eyes are on the BCB. Rishad is ready—hoping this time, the opportunity won’t slip away.
