Sheikh Hasina Stadium Renamed as National Cricket Ground (NCG)
The Sheikh Hasina Stadium has been renamed to National Cricket Ground (NCG), a decision made in today’s meeting of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The stadium, which was previously known for its boat-shaped design, will no longer feature the boat’s symbol in its structure.
The stadium, located in the Purbachal area of Dhaka, was initially designed in the shape of a boat, earning it the nickname 'The Boat'. However, with the change in name, the boat motif will also be removed from the design.
This renaming of the Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium is a significant shift after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government. The BCB Board of Directors, led by Faruk Ahmed, has announced this change, signaling a new chapter for the stadium.
Ifthekhar Rahman Mithu, a member of the BCB board, spoke about the renaming of the stadium after the 18th BCB Board Meeting, confirming the decision to rename the stadium to National Cricket Ground (NCG) from today.
