Australian pitch expert Tony Hemming has stepped down as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) head curator, the PCB confirmed in a statement on Saturday night. Hemming will now return to Bangladesh to take charge of all international cricket venues under the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Hemming, who left his role at the BCB midway through his contract last year to join the PCB, has signed a new two-year deal with the BCB as Head of Turf Management. His appointment was confirmed by BCB director Iftikhar Rahman Mithu following the board’s meeting on Saturday, August 9.
“Tony Hemming is being appointed as Head of Turf Management. He has worked in Bangladesh before, and we are bringing him back on a two-year contract,” Mithu said.
Hemming first joined the BCB in 2023, earning widespread praise for his work on Bangladesh’s pitches. Before his stints in South Asia, he served as an international cricket soil adviser and consultant for the Western Australia Cricket Association in Perth.
