After a temporary halt due to political unrest, domestic cricket in Pakistan is set to resume, bringing relief to players and fans alike. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced in a press release that the situation in the country has shown signs of stabilization, allowing cricketing activities to recommence.
According to the PCB, the Regional Intra-District Challenge Cup and the Inter-District U-19 One-Day Tournament will resume starting today. These grassroots competitions are considered crucial for identifying and nurturing young cricketing talent across the country.
Additionally, the long-anticipated President’s Trophy Grade-II is scheduled to return on May 14. Preparations are already underway among the participating teams. The tournament’s knockout stages will follow shortly thereafter: the quarterfinals from May 19–21, semifinals from May 24–26, and the final from May 28–31.
The PCB believes the return of domestic competitions will not only maintain the continuity of the sport but also boost player morale. Furthermore, these tournaments serve as a vital platform for scouting future prospects for the national team.
